Marjan Minnesma
The Netherlands
Bio Marjan Minnesma holds three master degrees as business administrator, lawyer and philosopher and is one of the leading figureheads of the pursuit of the energy transition in the Netherlands in the first decades of the 21st century. In 2022, she received the prestigious international Goldman Environmental Prize for suing the Dutch government over its carbon emissions plans. She won this lawsuit after a High Court decision in 2019, becoming the first woman worldwide to successfully sue a government over carbon emissions. Minnesma is founder of the Urgenda Foundation, which aims to help enforce national, European and international environment treaties. In her, no doubt inspiring, keynote lecture, she will highlight the need to create a green and sustainable society and that we should all act now!
